WHAT IS EVOLVE?

EVOLVE’S name is inspired by the Blue Morpho butterfly. Their bright blue wings and irregular way of flying mean they stand out in the Costa Rican jungle. In their 115-day life cycle, they transform from eggs to mature butterflies. This is the symbol I have embraced to represent individual and organizational change.
EVOLVE is transformation, progress, growth…doing and being better.
It means being in a constant state of improvement.
It is not about doing the same thing over and over, even though it might be easier.
Every time I look at "Evolve HR" I see a call to action.
At its core, EVOLVE is a verb.
I believe we can all evolve.

Evolve is me. I am Evolve. But people just call me Amy.
I’m an human resource (HR) practitioner whose strength is embodying and translating strategy down to processes, systems and relationships needed to execute it. Are you an NGO or non-profit? Are you a small business? Do you have HR projects to tackle - a tool, a process, a strategy? I focus on your specific needs because organizations have different interests, values and preferences… and we can’t be going around putting square pegs into round holes. My intent is to do a really good job for a few, not a subpar job for many.

Throwing It Back...
I’m a born and raised Yukoner who grew up in the tourism industry; my family owned a bakery for 25 years in Haines Junction that catered to the community and to travellers from all over the world. By nine, I was serving customers and ringing up their bills on the cash register with the help of my trusty stool (a helpful tool for me, a tripping hazard for everyone else!)
Looking back, I think I inherited my dad’s ability as Chief Conversation Officer and my mom’s ability as Chief Multitasking Officer (I made up these titles – don’t tell them. Digression: I also probably should have learned to bake). This exposure to business and people ultimately merged together to shape my chosen degree and passion for HR.
To which end, I have an HR major in Commerce and am a Certified Management Professional with the Institute of Canadian Management Professionals (Ontario).
For thirteen years I worked in HR units for the Yukon public service such as Health & Social Services, and central agency government including Executive Council Office, Finance, Public Service Commission, French Language Service Directorate and Women & Gender Equity Directorate. As an internal HR consultant and manager, I led:

recruitment & selection;

employee relations & performance management;

disability management & accommodation;

position management; and
-
strategic projects.
On top of HR as a discipline, these roles inherently involved advising management, day-to-day compliance, office and people management, building relationships and balancing risk within a complex, unionized and hierarchical organization. As a trusted advisor, I earned a strong reputation as collaborative, empathetic and thorough in my approach to initiating action and delivering results.
